Wellness Vaccinations Programs

Our wellness and vaccination programs are designed to prevent disease and prolong the lives of your companion animals. Disease prevention is always less costly than dealing with the treatment of a disease once your pet has developed it. An example would be the treatment of parvovirus. Parvovirus treatment can frequently cost $1,000 or more while a single parvovirus vaccination will usually cost less than $100.

Early diagnosis of a disease process can lead your pet to a longer healthier life. Kidney disease, if diagnosed early, will allow us to modify your dog or cat’s diet and in some cases add supplements to their diet to potentially extend their lives.

Puppy Wellness Programs

Our puppy wellness program is designed to offer your new puppy all the benefits of veterinary services available to him / or her from 6 weeks of age to 16 weeks of age. Included in this service is a series of examinations and vaccinations including rabies, distemper, parvovirus, etc. In addition, your puppy will be tested for worms and be treated for the most common intestinal worm of puppies – roundworms. Roundworms can cause gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting and / or diarrhea. There are other parasites that can cause similar symptoms and can even cause your puppy to become anemic (low red blood cells). Performing a fecal test will allow us to treat your puppy accordingly. Although some worms are visible to the naked eye, most worm burdens are diagnosed by examining the stool of your puppy microscopically.

Kitten Wellness

Our kitten wellness program is designed to offer your new kitten all the benefits of veterinary services available to him / or her from 6 weeks of age to 12 weeks of age. Included in this service is a series of examinations and vaccinations including rabies, panleukopenia (distemper), leukemia, etc. In addition, your kitten will be tested for worms and be treated for the most common intestinal worm of kittens – roundworms. Roundworms can cause your kitten to vomit and / or experience diarrhea; however, it is possible for your kitten to have roundworms and not show any signs of harboring the worms.

A microscopic fecal examination will allow us to evaluate the presence of these worms. The examination will also look for other types of worms that can affect your kitten.

Medical Services

Our knowledgeable staff and our facilities allow us to deal with a variety of medical conditions your pet may experience. We hope we do not have to see you or your pet for an emergency but if we do, we are equipped to handle the situation. In some cases, your pet may require hospitalization and further diagnostic tests. Our website describes the medical services we offer in more detail.

  • Complete Medical Assessment
  • Cardiology (Heart)
  • Flea Control
  • Dentistry
  • Digital Radiology (X-rays)
  • Dermatology (Skin)
  • Endocrinology (Hormones)

Surgical Services

We provide full surgical services at our clinic including routine spay and neuters, soft-tissue, and orthopedic surgeries.

  • Spaying
  • Neutering

Anesthesia & Patient Monitoring

Anesthesia and patient monitoring varies greatly among clinics. When you choose your veterinarian, be sure to question the types of anesthetics used and the protocols for monitoring anesthesia. Often the more expensive anesthetics are safer to use; however, anesthetics are also chosen for other reasons including their ability to control pain.

  • Local Anesthesia
  • Tranquilization/Sedation
  • General Anesthesia

Microchip Pet Identification

Microchipping has become a very popular and safe way to permanently identify your pet and you as the owner in the unfortunate case that your pet is lost. Microchipping involves placement of a small electronic chip the size and shape of a piece of rice just under the skin in the neck area. A needle is used to inject the chip. The injection is comparable to a regular vaccine injection.

If your pet becomes lost and is transported to a humane society, the humane society will be able to scan your pet for the chip and contact you. The scanner is similar to a scanner found in the grocery store. We advise you to use this system of identification as well as a collar identification system on your pet.

From Our Customers

  • review rating 5  We visited Conyers Animal Hospital for the first time today with our new rescue pup. We had a walk-in visit with only a short 10 minute wait while we filled out paperwork. Everyone we met during our visit was absolutely wonderful! Dr. Barnhart and Dr. Melissa Johnson were both very thorough and sweet to our pup! We were very impressed by the staff and will definitely be back for many years to come! We even had the opportunity to meet the office manager who gave us a welcome bag to include new toys, treats, and other goodies! The entire experience was enjoyable for myself as well as for our pup! I highly recommend Conyers Animal Hospital!

review rating 5  Truly caring. No BS. Made me feel better. I had a bad experience with another local vet (dennis). I asked so many questions and got answers. Unfortunately I had to put Monroe to sleep. They even sent me a sympathy card. How awesome is that? I would recommend highly!!

review rating 5  What a great clinic! From the minute we walked in, the staff made us and our dog feel welcome. We took our dog for his annual shots and to check a small growth on his mouth. Dr. Bettis was awesome and answered every question all while giving our 1 year old dog the most thorough check up. We will definitely be coming back again.

  • review rating 5  My first visit and was referred to them by a friend. I was very impressed with my first visit. Everybody was really nice and professional! The Practice Manager introduced herself which was a first for me. Let me know the Dr was in her way the in to see my dog and gave me cards for both. The Dr really examined Ava and explained everything to me. She was great and compassionate with Ava my dog. I was very impressed with my first service at this establishment.

review rating 5  I had a dire situation with my dog and we had never been seen here before. They were exceptional all the way around. We were able to walk in and be seen fairly quickly. My Stormy was treated and taken very good care of. I was given great advise and we were sent home with everything needed to care for her until she was better. The staff was very helpful, considerate, and polite. Great experience. They are now our vet office and we love it there. I recommend 1000%!

review rating 5  My dogs have been patients of Dr. Kidd's for almost two decades. Two have passed on since I moved all over the US for my career, and I brought two new ones with me when I moved back to Atlanta from CA. When I returned to Atlanta, I moved to Midtown, but still make the trek to Conyers solely for Dr. Kidd. Her medical knowledge and her genuine care for animals is comforting and reassuring. The staff at Conyers Animal Hospital, led by Andrea, is always friendly and efficient, and very helpful with answering the barrage of questions I usually ask!
