Dr. Gaines White, DVM
Dr. White, who was raised in Kingsport, Tennessee, has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 20 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Wake Forest University in 1986. In 1990 he graduated from the University of Tennessee with his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. He moved to Conyers and become an associate at Conyers Animal Hospital in 1991. in 1996 he became a partner and then sole owner in 2010. Dr. White recently purchased Social Circle Veterinary Hospital and is looking forward to getting to know the clients and their families as he has at Conyers Animal Hospital.
Dr. White is married to Kay Cook the owner of Body Tech Fitness center. Dr. White has two wonderful children Erin and Colin, along with his step children Timothy and Lauren.
Dr. White is a member of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He is a resident of Conyers and has been involved in a variety of organizations to help he community including the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, Conyers Rotary Club, Prevent Child Abuse Rockdale, Walk of Hero’s Veterans Memorial Park, Leadership Rockdale, Conyers/ Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Hands Across Rockdale and the Rockdale Hospital Foundation. He is currently an active chapter member of Ducks Unlimited. He was named a 5-Star Veterinarian by clients and peers in Atlanta Magazine, November 2010.
His interest include travel, deep sea fishing, upland game hunting, snow and water skiing and fitness.
Dr. Joe Sharp, DVM
Dr. Sharp was born in Lithonia, Georgia and grew up in Covington, Georgia. He attended Emory at 1964. Upon graduation he married his sweetheart and joined the United State Air Force where he was a Captain in the Veterinary Corp. He then worked in a private veterinary practice in Macon Georgia for four years before opening Conyers Animal Hospital in 1970.
Dr. and Mrs. Sharp’s roots are well entrenched in Conyers and Rockdale County. His years of service to the community include the Rockdale County Board of Health, the Board of Directors of Main Street Bank, and the Rockdale County Jaycees. He has served on the Board of the Snapping Shoals ENC since 1978. Hew was also one of the founders of the Rockdale Humane Society, and served on the board for a number of years.
He and Mrs. Sharp have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. In his free time Dr. Sharp enjoys fishing, hunting and golf.
Dr. Jessica Kidd, DVM
Dr. Kidd grew up in a small farming community in Central Illinois. Since a young adult, Dr. Kidd could always be found in the local stables working and caring for horses.
With the intentions of pursuing a career in research she obtained a degree from the University of Chicago in Biology. Through her studies in biology, she reconnected with her passion for animals. Finding that she preferred animals to sick people. Dr. Kidd entered veterinary school and obtained a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois in 1998.
After relocating to Atlanta to study at Emory University she began working full time as a Veterinarian. Later she obtained her Masters Degree in Public Health in 2001.
Since graduating veterinary school, Dr. Kidd has worked for corporate veterinary practices, feline only practices and holistic practices, before joining the Conyers Animal Hospital family in 2001.
Her special interests include emergency medicine, feline health, and nutrition. Dr. Kidd is very involved in our community, visiting schools for career day, hosting tours for special interest youth groups, and judging science fair projects. Dr. Kidd personifies the dedication and passion it takes to become an outstanding and renowned Veterinarian. Her love for her patients and clients strengthens with each visit. Dr. Kidd is an alumni member of the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce 2011 Leadership, member of Georgia Veterinary Medical Association and American Veterinary Medical Association. She also practices emergency medicine part time at the East Metro Animal Emergency Clinic. Dr. Kidd has avid interest in physical fitness.
Dr. Georgia Vella, DVM
After receiving her undergraduate degree in Microbiology form the University of Georgia, Dr. Vella earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine 1993 for the University of Georgia. She joined the Conyers Animal Hospital team in 2007. Dr. Vella maintains a strong interest in the family medicine aspects of veterinary medicine. She is a member of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Vella lives in Monroe, Georgia and has two sons, Casey and Cody. Dr. Vella shares her home with a menagerie of furred and feathered friends, that include horses, dogs, cats and parrots. In her free time she enjoys fishing, cooking and working out.
Dr. Cheryl Bettis, DVM
Dr. Bettis comes to us from Henry County Georgia. She earned her B.S. in Biology from Clayton State University in 2004 and worked as a full-time Veterinary Assistant for a few years prior to beginning Veterinary School at the University of Georgia. She earned her DVM from UGA in 2011. Dr. Bettis participated in the Georgia Veterinary Scholars Program while at UGA and was also the recipient of the Conyers Kennel Club Scholarship.
Her special areas of interest include oncology, dermatology, renal disease management, and soft tissue surgery. Her favorite dog breed is Pit Bulls and she has 3 rescue pits and 3 cats at home.
In her spare time – she enjoys dinner with friends, reading, camping, riding motorcycles, collecting 3-legged animals and traveling with her husband Eddie.
Dr. Robin Barnhardt, DVM
Dr. Robin Barnhardt, a native of North Carolina, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1995. She graduated from North Carolina University in 2004 with a Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Barnhardt became a full time Associate at Conyers Animal Hospital in 2009.
Her current passion is Barnhardt Farms where she lives with her 50 chickens, pygmy goats, three dogs and four cats. Other interests include wake boarding and traveling
Dr. Sam Rollins
Gail joined our practice in the fall of 2015, but has been in the veterinary profession for over 25 years. She is the Vice- President of the Georgia Veterinary Managers Association, Secretary and Past President and serves on the Board of Directors, projects and fund raising committees for The Greater Butts County Lions Club. Gail is also the Rockdale County Chamber of Commerce 2016 Ambassador Chairman, serves on the Agricultural Advisory Committee for Rockdale Career Academy, and is enjoying the Leadership Rockdale Class of 2016. Gail loves to give back to the community and has participated in many events in such as Hands Across Rockdale, River of Life, mentoring youth, Adopt A Street Program, Gail is Master Gardner and loves gardening, golf, photography and construction. Gail comes from a long history of carpenters and builders and enjoys working with her hands.
Front Office Manager
If you have spent any time in Conyers or Rockdale County you probably have met our Front Office Manager Andrea Boyle. Andrea was born and raised in Rockdale County and has been instrumental in the growth and development of Conyers Animal Hospital over the years. Andrea joined the practice in 1990 and is cross trained in all departments of the hospital. Andrea is an alumni of the 2010 Leadership Rockdale. Andrea leads the front office team in client services, client scheduling, client education, file management, and serves as our Credit Manager.
In her spare time Andrea loves sailing, kayaking, all water sports and spending time with her family and friends.
Marketing Manager/ Customer Care Representative
Kayla’s career began at Conyers Animal Hospital in 2010 when she was hired as a kennel assistant. Since then, she has been cross trained to do an assortment of jobs in the hospital including veterinary assistant and media specialist. Kayla is now our Marketing manager, and also maintains our facebook page, website, and instagram account. Kayla has a passion for animals, and has always wanted to pursue a career with them. She has three dogs of her own Brady, Jase, and Georgia. Kayla has found the perfect balance here where she can love on the animals, but she can also help with our marketing and internet relations.
In her spare time, Kayla loves spending time with her husband and beautiful newborn daughter. She also loves to spend her time crafting, she enjoys making vinyl decals and tshirts.
Customer Care Representative
Amy is a native Georgian, and is a new comer to our practice and profession. She has been a part of our team since September 2015. Amy is generally one of the first people to welcome you to our hospital with her warm smile and enthusiasm. She loves animals and even has six cats of her own! Her most favorite things are spending time at the beach and being on the lake. Amy also enjoys cooking, shopping and spending time with her husband, two children, and her sweet kitties.
Customer Service Representative
Mary is a former New England resident moving to Georgia in 2000. She is one of our Customer Care Representatives leaving the banking industry to join the veterinary profession. Mary’s extensive banking background brings many talents to her position at the hospital. She is passionate about caring for our clients needs and touches the lives of those she meets.
Mary has two sons, daughter in-law and two wonderful dogs. She loves soccer, biking, the outdoors spending quality time with her family and friends.
Customer Care Representative
Sarah is a native of Ohio, but has lived in Conyers for the past 15 years. She does not remember a time that she didn’t have a variety of pets, and currently lives with her two beautiful German Shepherds Loki and Surri. Sarah came to Conyers Animal Hospital in 2012 after graduating from Georgia College and State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a concentration in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. Her other interests include surfing or anything water related, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
Lead Registered Veterinary Technician
Connie has been a veterinary technician for over 32 years. She began her career in California, and then worked as a technician in Lilburn, Georgia for 25 years. Connie become a member of the Conyers Animal Hospital team in 2011. She is one of our lead technicians. On any given day you will find Connie assisting the doctors in surgery, with outpatient visits, and also training, leading or mentoring our team. Connie was instrumental in our practice in becoming a “Fear Free” Veterinary Practice for our anxious patients providing soothing music, relaxing pheromones, soft examination mats, reduced lighting, and anti-anxiety medication when needed.
Connie lives in Rutledge, Georgia with her husband of 32 years. They have two dogs, one cat, three board goats, and a miniature donkey.
Veterinary Assistant/ Inventory Manager
Rob grew up in Atlanta. He has worked for Conyers Animal Hospital for about 14 years. Prior to joining Conyers Animal Hospital, Rob worked at Rockdale Kennels working with and training dogs. Rob loves the outdoors and you will often find him kayaking or fishing.
Netanya has been in the veterinary profession for seven years and we were delighted when she joined our team four years ago. Netanya began her career at CAH as a Customer Care Representative. Her passion has been to work directly with the animals, and she is able to fulfill that dream in her dynamic role as a Veterinary Assistant. To quote Netanya – “ My job is my passion” and she exhibits that passion everyday working with our patients and clients. She loves spending time with her Mom, who is her best friend, role model, and confidant. When Netanya is not at work or spending time with her Mom, you will find her cheering on the Braves or with her sweet baby Ally a seven year old Basenji Mix.
Tara joined our team in the summer of 2015. Tara was new to the small animal veterinary world after working in a large animal veterinary practice. The principles are the same but the patients are considerably smaller. Tara jumped right in learning the standards of care, vaccine protocol, and technical skills to become an outstanding veterinary assistant. Tara is also certified to perform K Laser treatments. Tara loves assisting in Cesarian Sections and neonatal recitation. Tara has a love for all animals but her passion is hand raising and showing Nigerian Dwarf goats. Tara also enjoy riding motorcycles, photography, spending time with her husband, German Shepherds and two horses. Tara hobby is making “goat soap”.
Tara and her husband are also expecting their first little one in October, a girl, named Kymber, and we are all VERY excited for her arrival!
Brittany is a new comer to the veterinary profession, joining our team in the summer of 2015. She has been involved in retail sales, is an Esthetician, and was a pet care specialist at a national pet store chain. Brittany’s dream as a young girl was to work in a veterinary practice, and she has full filled that dream by joining our team! Brittany is cross trained as kennel assistant as well as doctor assistant, and is in the process of becoming a certified K- Laser technician. Brittany is working toward obtaining her Registered Veterinary Technician accreditation.
Brittany loves to fish, is passionate about her ministry work, and she loves spending time with her husband, beautiful daughters, family, rabbit, and hamster.
